Read Joan’s Story
Shared laughter and conversation make every meal special.
Why I chose to move to Peterborough Retirement
Joan Found’s journey to Peterborough Retirement began with her daughter’s caring support. After discovering the community online and arranging a tour, it became clear that it was the right place based on its services, atmosphere, and value. The decision also held a meaningful connection—Joan’s grandmother had once lived there, making the move feel familiar and comforting.
Settling in and feeling supported
Coming from the hospital, Joan initially felt shy and unsure about life in a new environment. The change from home took time to adjust to. Before long, however, she experienced how welcoming the people were. With encouragement and kindness, she became involved in activities and part of the rhythm of daily life.

What brings me joy each day
Joan continues to enjoy knitting, crosswords, and games within the community. She volunteered for years teaching knitting and crocheting to hospital patients and donated handmade hats and mittens to the YWCA.
